What the forex heat map is

The forex heat map is a matrix view of the 8 major currencies. Each cell shows how a pair moved over the selected period: green when the row currency strengthened, red when it weakened.

How to interpret currency strength

Read a horizontal row to see how one currency performs against the other 7. If every cell in the EUR row is green, the euro is strong in that period. If half are green and half are red, the move is idiosyncratic rather than a broad euro trend.

How to use it in trading

Traders use the map to choose pairs with clearer movement: a strong currency versus a weak one can produce cleaner directional setups. For risk management, the map also highlights correlations: if two pairs show opposite colors, they may be candidates for hedging.

Frequently asked questions

How often is the data updated?
The data is refreshed automatically every 15 minutes. The upstream data source updates in real time on trading days.
What does a cell color mean?
Green means the row currency strengthened against the column currency during the selected period. Red means it weakened. Color intensity is proportional to the size of the move.
Why are some cells empty?
Diagonal cells are always empty because a currency is not compared with itself. Gray cells represent pairs excluded by your active filter.
Can I add gold or Bitcoin?
Gold (XAU), silver (XAG), palladium and platinum are available in the filter and appear in a separate card below the matrix. Cryptocurrencies are not included in this version.
Can I use the map to trade directly?
The map is an analysis tool, not a trading system. Use it together with fundamental analysis and your own strategy.
